We were so desperate to getaway that we gave this, nahh we aren’t going to town, a try and it did not disappoint. Since our first trip, we went back two weeks later once we found a hotel that fit our vibe and have discovered fun things to do! It’s also nice that it’s off season so not as busy.
On our first trip, we were planning on just staying one night since I had a commitment Sunday morning, so we booked an indoor lazy river type hotel Friday night.
Island Vista. This place was cool for really one reason in the Winter and that was the little kiddo heated indoor pool. I normally would be super grossed out but no one was there sooo it was fine, I told myself that anyways.. The lazy river side was cool as well for our eight year old so win win for one night.
This isn’t a typical hotel, it really is check in and do your thing, you won’t get much out of a hang out lobby or restaurant, it’s more of a self serve vibe. In our room we had one bedroom with two beds, a full kitchen and balcony. It was nice to have a full kitchen, not that we cooked but a large fridge somehow even for one night we fill with so much stuff..
Before dinner we hit up the indoor heated lazy river and played in the hot tub and kiddo area. It was super fun for the kids of course and we got in to play as well!
The next morning we packed up and checked out of the 1st hotel and thought OK we aren’t ready to head home soooo why not, let’s stay another night!!
Where should we stay next!?
We found the Marriott Myrtle Beach Resort Grand Dunes. This place is stunning and when we stayed, there were zero people. Like we rented out the whole place for us. The outdoor hot tub, hammocks, basketball court and indoor pool. All ours. Yes it’s cold out but it was perfect fun for us. Also super clean, on the beach, and a beautiful setup. Stunning to just look at.
*I do highly recommend if you are traveling in the future to call hotels and see if they have conferences or any dance competitions, sports events, etc going on! This happen to our friends and it goes from zero people to a zoo. No Thanks.
I'll add to the hotel stays if we ever experience any other place, but this is our go to for now when we make the little getaway.
Activities To Do with the Kiddos (Winter Addition)
• Top Golf
• Boardwalk, we packed the kid’s scooters and off we went! Once again this is off season.
• Hotel pool & hot tub
• Tidal Creek Brew House - Yes a brewery but kid friendly!
• Market Common - Has a cool park area, great for walking around, milkshake bar, bowling, & shopping - hello Anthropologie.
• Mini Golf - Jurassic Mini Golf is by Market Commons
• Ripleys - We haven't personally done these, and have strayed away for more outdoor fun but may be cool if it's raining.
So let’s eat.
Breakfast (My fave meal of the day when we eat out)
Blueberry's Grill. Now that we’ve tried this place and later discovered another great breakfast spot, I can safely say either is a good pick. This one is more on the traditional side.

Croissants. This place is our all time fave fave for Breakfast. The Pennsylvania Dutch Pancakes, the homemade muffins they bring out to all share. The coffee. The quiche. It's all just so good & all of us leave happy campers.
Hook and Barrel. For Brunch on Sunday! This is the sister restaurant to (Croissants-they are closed Sundays) We always grab dinner here as well. These homemade cinnamon rolls are soo good. And the bloodys. All the breakfast so so good. This place is also super close like biking and walking distance from the Marriott which is cool once it's warmer and you want that all inclusive feel. *Reminder, SC doesn't serve liquor until 10am so if you want Bloodys then you know what's up
Lunch
Banditos. This place had great margs and really cool decor. They have outdoor and indoor seating with an ocean view!
Crossiants. Back to that yummy spot we love! They serve lunch as well and then dessert at dinner time.
Top Golf. We snagged lunch there one day. Yummy nachos and mini burgers for the kids.
Dinner
Crave. We then hit up Crave for dinner which is a great Italian spot. Our kids always do great with Italian food so it’s always a go to of ours when they are in tow, especially if we stay somewhere for two nights.
Co. This isn't just a Myrtle Beach spot, but we always love this place. An amazing sushi, curry, dumplings, etc stop, and this is located in the Market Common area where you can shop.
Hook and Barrel. This is our fave fave for dinner & Sunday Brunch as I mentioned above. They have the yummiest pimento cheese they bring out before dinner and all their entrees are fantastic. The staff is hands down great and they have indoor and outdoor seating.
Brewery
Tidal Creek Brew House. This spot it so cool because it is a great spot to have kiddos with you or not! Right in the Market Common area as well.
Shopping
I really haven't done any shopping past Anthropolgie in Market Common so any suggestions are welcome!
OK, as I said we have only been less than 5 times since my wild Senior Beach week days, so this post is a work in progress, but these places I suggested above we have been stoked on but we will add to this!
